Good Morning,

As the demolition efforts continue, I was deeply struck by the resiliency of our Sanctuary’s Steeple which at this very moment remains standing. It will be later in the day that the Steeple is scheduled to be taken down completely. I was so thankful we had a few more days with this precious Steeple and all that it had endured over the years.

I am sharing with you a sweet moment I had earlier in the week. On Tuesday Morning, I did some rearranging of my office supplies and I came across a gem in one of my desk drawers. The perks of coming after another pastor is finding gems like these left behind. It was like it was revealed as a beautiful treasure intended to be shared at a specific moment in time.

This gem was a poem written by Rev. Britney Toner.

I asked her for permission to share and Pastor Britney gladly said yes! Here is Pastor Britney’s response:

Dear Church,

I wrote this poem while preparing for my last Sunday with y’all. I was blessed when Pastor Chelsey sent me a photo of it this week. That’s how the Holy Spirit works so often, setting in place what we need before we ever know it’s there. I watched the livestream of the start of the demolition on Sunday and was thinking about how I loved that steeple, but most of all, her people.

Sending my love and my prayers,
Britney

As we move forward in our recovery, may we be encouraged this day and lift our heads high like our beloved Steeple has done for all of us.

In Love and Grace,
Rev. Chelsey Brown

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
